San Francisco Community Organizations
South Van Ness Adult Behavioral Health Services
Provides behavioral health care specializing in HIV, AIDS, and gender services.
Integrated Behavioral Health, including crisis support, short-term counseling, and referral to specialty mental health care. Multicultural, bilingual (Spanish-speaking), and LGBTQ+ identifying staff. Also provide reproductive and substance use services.
Dimensions Youth Clinic @ Castro Mission Health Center
Serving low-income and/or LGBTQ+ youth (12 - 25 years old) experiencing homelessness. Free and low cost mental health and substance use counseling services, behavioral health services, primary and urgent care, and reproductive health services.
Alliance Health Project - UCSF Psychiatry
UCSF Alliance Health Project provides LGBTQ people the following mental health services: gender health support, group therapy sessions, psychotherapy, substance use counseling, and case management.
Offers a vast array of programs and services for the entire LGBT community. Programs include arts and culture, youth services, community programs, employment services, housing & financial services, information and resources. Youth services provide access to basic needs, hygiene supplies, food, food access gift cards, masks, gender-affirming gear, clothing, resource referrals, and virtual spaces. The Center’s Mental Health Department provides free and confidential bilingual (Spanish) and bicultural (Latinx/American) holistic gender-affirming mental health services to LGBTQ+ youth (primarily between ages 16-24).
Lavender Phoenix (Transgender, Non-Binary, And Queer API Equality - Northern California)
Lavender Phoenix is a project of Chinese for Affirmative Action that provides support to queer and transgender Asians and Pacific Islanders (QTAPIs) who struggle with discrimination and inequality. Services provided include healing and care work - peer counseling, networking, and healing workshops.
Provides primary healthcare services to trans, non-binary, gender non-conforming, and intersex (TGI) communities and cis-gender women. Services include gender affirming care, psychiatry, individual psychotherapy, group therapy, substance use support, crisis intervention, and harm reduction services.
Offers a continuum of mental health services, including integrated treatment for clients with co-occurring substance use disorder and mental health problems. Services for youth are available through Asian American Recovery Services.

Offers integrated behavioral health services, substance use counseling, and a new community program: LGBT Saturday.
Shanti Project (LGBTQ+ Aging and Abilities Support Network (LAASN)
LAASN provides compassionate supportive services that help counteract isolation and emotional, behavioral, and health challenges faced by lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer older adults and adults with disabilities. Peer support groups and care navigation.
Offers community mentorship programs, artistic residencies, medical support for trans youth, mentorship programs. LYRIC’s mission is to build community and inspire positive social change through education enhancement, career training, health promotion, and leadership development with LGBTQ youth, their families, and allies of all races, classes, genders, and abilities.
Asian Pacific Islander Youth & Family Community Support Services (APIYFCSS) addresses mental health stigma, limited access to linguistically and culturally appropriate services, and co-factors surrounding API youth and LGTBQ youth specific mental health issues such as violence and substance abuse.
Community United Against Violence (CUAV)
Works to build the power of LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer) communities to transform violence and oppression, offering peer counseling, community leadership training, and more. As part of the larger social justice movement, CUAV works to create truly safe communities where everyone can thrive.
A safe and sober community center for all people and a refuge for the LGBTQ recovery community. Provides programs and services that help people change their lives by supporting personal growth. 40+ recovery-focused meetings per week.
Regional Organizations
LGBTQ Youth Space (Santa Clara County)
A community drop-in center and mental health program for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning and ally youth and young adults ages 13-25 who live in Santa Clara County. Offers a safe and confidential space with support groups, art workshops, activism and leadership opportunities. Mental health services are available to 13-25 year olds and include individual counseling, case management and psychiatry.
Billy DeFrank LGBTQ+ Community Center (San Jose)
Provides a broad array of opportunities and programs, a dedicated and caring staff, a corps of volunteers, and a spirit of community that celebrates the many facets of our broad-based Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender constituency. Offers weekly community activities, support groups, and walk-in HIV testing.
Pacific Center for Human Growth (Berkeley)
Services include counseling and psychotherapy, a wide range of peer-facilitated groups for diverse populations, 12 step meetings, and youth groups.
Spahr Center (Marin)
The Spahr Center is dedicated to supporting the health and well-being of LGBTQ+ and HIV+ community members. Offers counseling services, HIV prevention and testing, care and case management, medicine assistance, and peer support groups.
Positive Images (Sonoma County)
Positive Images is a grassroots nonprofit organization serving Sonoma County since 1990. The Positive Images LGBTQIA+ Community Center hosts multiple weekly support groups for youth and adults, a youth leadership development program, mentorship opportunities, an LGBTQIA+ Library, resource and referral station, and a Transformation Station.
